Hello, I just brought Msi z97 pc mate with i5- 4590 cpu. I brought my motherboard and cpu and my parts to my +a cicso class and built my pc there. Everything is check out and i turn on my pc and im getting no display. I did some research and you need to update the bios. My teacher and I are wondering how to update the bios without a display or OS?

To answer your question, you'll need another device that's capable of internet access and writing data on to removable media that's compatible with your hardware. Now as to possibly solving your issue, are you using a discrete or integrated GPU?

Remove the discrete entirely and reset cmos before trying to start. Take note of any post beeps or monitor activity, then post results please.

My teacher and i already did that, we removed the battery and use jump pins for clearing cmos. also we added a speaker and there were no beeps

Did you do it after taking out the discrete and hooking it up to the integrated? The order is important.

no i do not know. you have instructions how to do it?

we tried with another new motherbaord, and it didnt turn it on. could it the cpu? because amazon tested it and it works and i brought it new on amazon.

Well there could be a number of possibilities since there is alot we don't know about your hardware. What other parts? videocard or are you using integrated graphics? What memory? What powersupply?

Things that usualy help is stripping down to the bare minimum of components: board - cpu - single stick of ram (pref. compatible according to motherboard manual and know to work) and only add a videocard if it's necesary. If it doesn't work? Change out the powersupply. Alternatively do try a different stick of ram or a dfferent slot, but always with a single stick at first. Always make a single change before testing again.

To clarify, remove completely the discrete GPU. Hook up all to the on board graphics and then reset cmos (I hope you know that power has to be completely shut off at PSU when resetting cmos. Preferably by removing power cable from PSU). After resetting, then boot. Let me know which, if any, fans are running.

we tried videocard and intergrated graphics, ddr3 memory, 600w

Im think its the cpu to be honest. We tried the cpu to another motherboard and it showed the same result. Should I keep my motherboard and return the cpu? and should i get 4690k?

I wouldn't upgrade. Most you'll see is a couple frames increase, if that. Good luck, and hope all goes well second time around.
