Hello! This is my first post as I cannot find an answer to this online anywhere. Recently my computer has been completely locking up and becoming unresponsive to the point where my cursor will lag and even the windows environment becomes frozen.
here's the issue: I did some looking around and found in the task manager under processes that "msiexec.exe (windows installer)" is the culprit. It completely maxes my ram and I've never even seen an application or game do this before. My computer is only a few months old and is very fast, I have 8gb of ram, a geforce 760gtx 2gb superclocked video card and I'm running windows 7 pro. It has never lagged like this before and I don't know what to do.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!!

I figured it out. There was no way I was going to format and restart lol I have too much stuff to do that unless it was the only solution. Anyway, I found out that AVG antivirus I have was the issue, must have been a bug in their update somewhere down the line. It was the app that kept trying to update and the windows service was maxing out for whatever reason. So I uninstalled AVG, reinstalled it, and now everything is working just as it has been for the past few months I've had the rig.
