It'd be great if whoever is a write for Tom's actually proof-reads their work before submitting.

Pretty nice laptop, though.

tweak;

It's hard to proofread your own work. Everything you read is what came straight from your mind, and it sounds very home-ish to you. It's your writing, from your mind, and your subconscious barely detects anything amiss.

Now if someone else read the articles, however...

Only 1366x768 for a 16" screen? Might as well throw in an older GPU and cut the price because that resolution is an insult the the 5730. And -1 for a glossy highly reflective screen, I can't stand glossy monitors when gaming. Needs more RAM too.

do it still include the button to overclock on the fly? Im not talking about i5 increasing the CPU speed when cores are not active, but the button that "raises the TDP" style overclocking?

Not bad for a cheap laptop. Asus G73jh is much better box tho, and if you go with the $1199 model it's an i7 with 500gb hdd and 6 gb ram.

Wow! This gear at $900.00 is almost a must buy. I'm looking forward to get a gaming laptop this year and this one coming from MSI might be my choice.

nice price, screen res still to low and show me the benchmarks at high settings. Tired of all these "gaming" laptops running benchmarks at low and ultra low settings to pump up their numbers. Seems the word gaming is just being thrown around casually these days.

You might want to take equal care in proof reading your own comment. :)

We're still buying computers with 768 vertical pixels? Sad.
When I bought a 15" laptop a couple of years ago I got a 1440x900 screen. Anything less and the pixels are huge.

The hardware in these MSI laptops are usually a great value, but we have one at home and the keyboard is just terrible! They try and squeeze a full number pad onto a laptop keyboard and end up squishing all of the other keys, especially the shift button which just leads to more frustrations. It's a great value but really, what are they trying to do with this built in number pad it's not even needed.

not bad, but acer's budget gaming powerhouse packs a 5650 for only $750 and since the 5730 has only a higher clockrate, i'd say the acer is a better bang for the buck.

And then of course I got an hp envy with 1080p for just over $1000 with tax and that beats em both cause it packs a 5830 with double the SP's of either of them. I'm so excited :)
