3gb vram, sweet!! Finally a laptop that can replace a desktop. If it's under $1500 I might be interested, but i'm thinking it's gonna be in the $4000 - $5000 range. Guess just have to wait and see. Definitely have to go with the 1080p screen for sure. Going with anything else doesn't make sense. Now if only it has 3 monitor outputs for 3d surround, that would be awesome.

Yeah 4.16GHZ at turboboost, 1 core.. I highly doubt they could bring all 4 cores from 2.5GHZ to 4.16GHZ.
Makes for a fast machine at any rate, put in an SSD though

The VRAM isn't really important in a gaming machine...I mean yea it is, but 3GB w/ a GTX 570MOBILE gpu?
This will definately not be a 4k or 5k machine. I will guess it will start at about $2000 and possibly go as high as 3000 depending on configuration.

BTW that laptop wouldn't be able to power a 3D surround due to the weakness of the GPU, even if it did have 3 outputs for video.

I don't think I would buy another gaming laptop...used to have the G73 - and it was good for it's time, but the hardware is much weaker with mobile versions (especially GPUs).

I have a GX740 and with the 82Whr battery it lasts me 1,5 hours.
That is an i5 460m with a Ati 5870m.
Major throttling needed :')

Is there ANYONE who actually wants two mechanical HDDs? I hate those in laptops anyways. Why not a single 128GB SSD w/ optional storage drive or upgrade to 256GB SSD?

Also, I'm surprised it doesn't mention MXM Type B graphics uprgradeable to GTX570M SLI--if it doesn't allow that, it's pretty disappointing. If it does--that's pretty awesome and should be mentioned.

I'll just never understand the desire for a gaming laptop. For what this will cost, you could get a *real* gaming PC and a decent notebook for computing-on-the-go. Why carry around a massive heavy laptop that will get you mediocre performance and a paltry battery life?

I can play Just Cause 2 on High with a $650 i5-2420M w/ Radeon 7750M through HP right now. Or I can spend $1200 more just so Metro 2033, Crysis 2, and BF3 look good--when all were playable with the $650 system.

I just don't get why there aren't more laptops with MXM graphics slots and lots of CPU & GPU options.

[citation][nom]shardey[/nom]1600x900 standard and 1080p optional on a 17.3"? I think the 1080p should be standard on a 15"+ laptop.[/citation]
My Asus gaming laptop from a few years ago was 1920 x 1200. :p
