MsMpEng.exe High Disk Space/Microsoft Security Essential Error

Although it does not take any CPU usage, the MsMpEng Antimalware service takes up to 15-20% disk space on my Windows Vista 32 Bit Home Premium computer with 4 GB of RAM installed. The Service connected to this is Microsoft AntiMalware Service. Another websites fixes required opening Microsoft Security Essentials and/or Windows Defender. But if I am not mistaken Security Essentials automatically turns off Defender. And when I try to open Security Essentials and error appears with, "Error Code 0x80073b01."
