Mtu reverts back to 1500 after restart

I run command prompt as administrator and input the correct settings as it it says "ok" after I change the mtu from 1500 to 1492. However when I restart my computer and check the mtu setting again, it has reverted back to 1500 for my wi-fi connection. I can get it to work on my Windows 7 computer with no issues. My connection is pppoe and my router mtu is set to 1492 but I would like to have my Windows 8.1 computer set to 1492 as well.

What's the command you're running in command prompt?

netsh int ipv4 set subint "Wi-Fi" mtu=1492 store=persistent

The "Wi-Fi" is the actual name of the connection not "Wireless Network Connection" as indicated by netsh int ipv4 show subint

You think windows 8 has path mtu discovery? I think that might be resetting it, google results have not yielded me many answers regarding the mtu in windows 8 other than some one else has had the same problem as me but did not get it to work.
