Can anyone tell me if the intel pentium 4 524 LGA775 cpu clocked at 3ghz is a good chip when compared to the athlon 64 chips around the 3000 mark?

Im looking for good gaming performance.

in comparison , the Amd and the pentium D socket i'm willing to say that the AMD is better and more efficient, you'll see less hat and same or better performance, but when it cames to talk about chips, the novelty and best thing you should do is wait for conroe, i think that's the best chip to come out in a near future, but if you choices lay on those architectures, best to go with the AMD
