Mugen 4 install but no am3+ backplate

I think my mobo am3+ did not come with a backplate since all i needed to do was click in 4 plastic screw kinda things (dont know what theyre called) i could just latch the amd stock cooler on that, however i am trying to install a scythe mugen 4 now, but i can't install it because i do not have a backplate to screw the screws in :/. Mobo is an asrock 960gm-vgs3 fx. Do i need to buy a backplate now? Thanks in advance.

Please note that an original backplate with screw mounting is needed for installation on mainboards with AMD sockets. Please check before buying if the backplate is fixed by screws (example)! If the backplate uses plastic-pins, mounting of this cooler is not possible.

To be fair, they had stated that in the beginning so you're at fault. The reason why some board have a backplate and while others don't is due to the fact that some motherboard manufacturer's place power regulators at the underside of the CPU socket. In this case, use of a backplate can and will damage or crush the power regulators. So cooler selection tends to be specific as you need to choose cooler that use the existing retention mechanism or havebolts that go through the bottom of the motherboard without a backplate and in my case with an ASRock A85x-itx board, I wasn't able to take advantage of a Noctua cooler which was capable of cooling my A10-6800K APU. I eventually landed on an aftermarket cooler, Be Quiet!'s Shadow Rock LP(since I'm working with an InWin BD659 case.

Speaking of system's, can you please pass on your full system's specs inclusive of your case and a budget since the Mugen 4 is a lost cause.
