how do you get rid of the operating system entry in bios

It's not in the BIOS.

For Windows 7 it's in the System Configuration Utility:

Start >> Run

Type msconfig

Press <Enter>

The entries you are looking for are under the 'Boot' tab.

Note: deleting an entry here does not uninstall the OS it refers to, it just removes that entry from the dual-boot or multi-boot menu.
