if anyone is interested I've written a multi cache cleaner app that does all
ut1 / ut2003 and ut2004 cache directories in a single app. I've also added
info into the proggy to display any cd-keys / version numbers and locations
of install for all versions of ut as well..

get it off the clan webby: http://www.old-clan.co.uk/

on the main page click 'multi cache cleaner' on the quick links section..

Is this app useful?
I mean, why clean the cache files when you connect to servers that use them?

In the case of UT2004 the game sometimes has real problems if the
cache folder is not cleaned. In the case of all the UTxxxx games
it's good if you don't want to be re-downloading the files every
30 days or so when the game automatically purges the cache folder.
When you connect to a server it checks to see if you have the
correct files in the cache folder first then in the UTxxxx\System,
Sounds, Music, etc. folders. If it doesn't find the files you
will automatically download them from the server. The only
disadvantage I can see to cleaning out the cache folder would be
the fact that older versions of files would be left on your system
and would be your responsibility to overwrite them with newer
versions from the server. If you don't have the correct version
of a file then you automatically download it from the server and
upon cleaning out the cache again, it would be your responsibility
to overwrite a file when prompted to do so.

For questions you may have concerning UT, UT2003,
or UT2004.

LOL. It movies them to the Relevent UT directory instead of leaving them in
your cache directory and renames them to the proper syntax.
