I was wondering the effects of running say 3 monitors, at 1440, on dual 1080s. I was wondering what would be the effect of using both cards but out of SLI. Say one card was driving the two outside monitors and one the main monitor, I understand the load distribution would be out of whack, but, would it make for more effective utilization of the total power of both cards? As opposed to the relatively inefficient SLI scaling.

Solution
if by using both cards, you mean to render games. While technically supported on DX12...there is extremely limited support. A lot more so then SLI/CF. Ashes of the singularity benchmark/game supports it but besides it I can't think of any others. You'd be better served with a single GPU or SLI/CF setup at this point in time.

is it for running games ala nvidia surround or did you just want to use more monitor? (only using one monitor to play games)
