Hello, i have a question about my mom's pc, she has a very old pc:

AMD Athlon II X2 250
2x2GB DDR2 800Mhz
ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB
Random MSI AM3 Mobo

and a 1080p display, the gpu is here : https://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/ProductImage/14-131-360-03.jpg

so the main display is connected to a 1080p monitor via DVI cable, i would like to add her 2nd monitor to DVI port, she moslty surfs internet, and the need for 2nd monitor is for excel and powerpoint and word as she uses those heavily.

Question is, will additional monitor for Microsoft Office's put additional strain on the gpu ?

Impossible, fortunately that graphics card has an HDMI connector, so if you buy a HDMI to DVI adapter/cable, you can hook up a 2nd monitor digitally that way.

But that computer has gota be so slow, just some off topic advise, a super basic computer for $300 with a kaby lake/coffee lake celeron would be way faster for her.

Thx for both answers.

@TechyInAZ

Wait i didn't understand your answer, you are saying that the gpu cant support double displays on DVI + VGA cables?

Yeah i know and i told her about the new system, but she can't afford it right now.

Edit : I just figured the second monitor is 19 inch 1440 : 900 resolution, additional question, can the main monitor display image at 1080p and the other one in 900p ? I am not sure if it's worth it to put second monitor if both are gonna display at 900p.

I have not used windows to set up multi monitor in ages, but I think you can run 2 screens at 2 different resolutions as long as you have them as 2 independent monitors and not trying to stretch the desktop between the 2 screens. I know that seems silly, but I have seen ppl do it

Unfortunately the other monitor won't work for some reason even on my pc with r7-360, i am guessing it's because i would need to lower resolution from 1080p to 900p before swapping monitors, i guess. Thx everyone for help, as always Toms Hardware is the place when you need help.
