*Update* I gave up trying to fix it, so I just reinstalled the Operating System as suggested.
I'm pretty sure I downloaded a virus. After downloading a file my computer rebooted, then chrome would crash after a few seconds every time I tried to open it. I then downloaded Malwarebytes and struggled to get that to install because it kept crashing too, but eventually did in safe mode. It detected over 300 threats, but after removing them, applications are still crashing.
If it is a virus I could really use some help getting rid of it. Besides simply running antivirus software, I don't know how else to fight it. If isn't a virus I could also really use some help. Unfortunately downloading a lot of stuff isn't a great option as my household gets 5GB a month.
