Hello, English is my second language. I'll try to explain as clearly as I can, apologies in advance.
my friend's PC got BSODs few minitues after booted up. He sent me one of BSOD picture. The error string is "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT". So based on my little knowledge about PC, I guess it might be RAM problems which I had once long time ago. I cleaned the RAM with an eraser and put it back, power up PC, playing for 1-2 mins and BSOD showed up again but this time the erroe message was different. It's "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA". After that I suspect that it might not be just one type of BSOD. So I checked Minidump folder with BlueScreenView.
There're many error strings as follow.
- MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
- PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
- IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
- POOL_CORRUPTION_IN_FILE_AREA
- KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
- NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM
The BSODs doesn't show up at all in safe mode.
Then, I did some research online and found out that it might be that the RAM is faulty and could be verified by running memtest86. So I did that and there's no error. (I found out later that I should let the memtest run a while longer than I did. Although from what I read online, in most of the cases if the RAM happens to be faulty, the errors will be found few seconds after the program started. But it still possible that the RAM is faulty so I will run memtest again tonight.)
So I did more research with errors related with "ntoskrnl.exe" that appears in almost every error. There's someone said that it could be the problem with the Windows is not getting update for a long time. I tried to update the Windows with default windows updater which, somehow, didn't work. So I searching for the way to manually update the Windows XP and found the program called "Autopatcher". It took me a while but it seems to work well. So I restarted the PC but the problem still occurs.
At this point I'm complete puzzled and don't know what to do.
I saw many people who have the similar problem to me and they were asked to upload their Minidump files. So I'll upload mine here in case that it would help. Thank you.
Edited: I was in hurry and forgot to upload Minidump files. I'll do it later.
