My computer keeps freezing and fully locking up to the point where I have to use the power button to turn it off. Blue screen errors also keep popping up like"Page fault in nonpaged area,
System Service Exception,
IRQL not less or equal," and I can't find a solution to any of the problems. I'm on windows 7 64 bit, and I also can't update my GPU drivers (Nvidia 8800GT) which is also frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas to fix the problem?

This is usually a memory error or a hardware error with your graphics card. I would first run memtest and see if your system memory is ok. If not ok, repalce the RAM. Or uninstall the Nvidia drivers then do a clean install and test for a bit.

If all else fails repalce your GPU or your RAM in the PC.

I've ran memtest and it came back with no errors, and I tried to update my drivers for my 8800 but the installer nvidia has comes up with an error and it won't install them, and I saw on forums people tried to uninstall the old drivers but then they couldn't reinstall ANY drivers for the gpu, which is something I don't want to risk. Do you have any ideas?

Also, if this helps, I've gotten blue screens with no error given, and also sometimes the computer will just turn off, or the screen will go into standby mode and the computer is still running, but nothing is responsive and I have to turn it off to get control of it again. And then I'll power on my computer but only the fans will run, there isn't any beeping noise and it doesn't boot.hopefully this helps

If your motherboard have onboard video I can suggest to use that as the onboard video and remove the graphics card from your system and see if you still get errors after a while.

But, every time I have gotten the "IRQL not less or equal error" it have been due to the GPU drivers. Uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling the latest drivers usually solve the issue, when all else fails replace the graphics card.

Ok well how did you update your drivers? Because like I said the installer comes up with an error every time and whatever I've done won't fix it. I'm using an nvidia 306.97 which came out in like 2012 I believe because I can't update. Is there a fix?

I can uninstall them I'm pretty sure, but the problem is the installer says "Nvidia installer failed" every time I run it. People tried uninstalling the old drivers to try and fix it but now they were left with no drivers for their GPU which totally messed up their computer because they couldnt even reinstall the old ones, or any drivers so that's why I don't want to uninstall the old ones first, I'm scared I won't be able to install any drivers for it
