Multiple HDD BIOS issue

I installed windows 7 64 bit on a new samsung 840 250gb today and everything went smoothly. I had previously been running on a 640gb HDD and transferred all of my important files to a spare 750gb laptop drive that I had laying around. However, when I plug all 3 drives into SATA ports and enter the BIOS, my SSD disappears. It only shows the laptop drive (750gb) and "Removable Device."

If I try to boot from my old HDD instead of the SSD, windows fails to boot and it enters disk recovery. However, the bios recognizes the disk. My goal is to boot to windows from my SSD (which is only possible if it is the only drive hooked up to a SATA port), then format my old 640gb drive, then transfer the files back to it from my laptop drive.

Storage is configured to AHCI (was IDE before). Could that be an issue when it comes to booting from the old HDD since windows was installed when it was configured as IDE?

Anyone have any idea why my BIOS will not recognize all 3 drives when they are all plugged in, or why I would not be able to select the SSD from the boot options if either of the other 2 drives are plugged in?

Of course I end up solving my own problem 5 minutes after posting...

I have an ASUS motherboard and the "boot order" is separate from a "hard drive" option on the boot order tab in the BIOS. In the "hard drive" option you can select your "primary" HDD. The boot options only select in tiers (HDD, optical drive, etc.). So I had to set the SSD as the primary boot drive, then select it as the first boot option. I'm currently in windows (booted off of the SSD) and all 3 drives are recognized.
