Built my pc a couple of years ago, and did a major upgrade a year ago replacing cpu, gpu, motherboard and adding 2 sticks of ram
Since a few days ago my pc has been completely freezing up while gaming, anywhere between a few minutes after starting and an hour or so. The picture is frozen, and there is occasionally buzzing from audio looping. Pressing caps lock on keyboard doesn't work so there's no brain in there, I'm forced to hard reset.
Often after this happens the computer won't post, with the cpu debug light glowing. If I unplug the computer and drain residual charge by holding the power button it works again.
I have also gotten bsods, mostly irql not less or equal. These usually happen during boot, or immediately after logging on.
So far I have:
Run Prime95 for an hour with no issue
Run Unigine Heaven for 3 cycles and furmark 3d for half an hour with no issues
Run chkdsk, sfc and dism with no issues
Run memtest86 for one pass with no issues, it's still going right now
Reset cmos
Reinstalled Windows
At the moment I'm hoping it's the PSU failing, I've ordered a new one with a higher wattage since I've been toeing the line with 550w anyway, that's coming in a few days. Otherwise I don't have a clue what's going on.
