Multiple monitors from laptop with 1 HDMI output

I am already running one extra display from it and I would not mind a third, but I don't know how I would connect it.
The two monitors would be 1080p and I'd prefer them to run at 60hz. Would an HDMI splitter work for this?
I rarely move the laptop so it wouldn't matter if there would be many cables to plug, I just don't know what would work and what wouldn't.

Just get a simple USB video adapter. It's really just a low end GPU connected via USB. Which is fine for 2D stuff. Such as office work, web browsing and video.

HDMI does not support multiple video streams. A splitter will only duplicate one image onto both screens.

Does your laptop have a USB 3.0 port? If so, the USB adapters velocityg4 suggested would be a good solution. If you only have USB2 ports the descriptions say the results will be "sub optimal", with no particulars given.
