Hey, can you install two of the same OS on the same computer for a short time?, I have my sisters laptop here that has kinda crashed, auto installs crap programs and is just full with virus so i was going to reboot it to a fresh install of windows 7 but it refuses to boot with usb just goes straight to start up like normal when USB boots are first in lines. and when i do tell it to boot from usb same thing happen, so i was thinking if i can remove the harddrive stick it into my computer and format it here and then stick it back in and install all the drivers and programs. Would this be possible without breaking my machine so i would need to do a fresh install on it aswell?

That won't work.

1. Take the drive out of the broken laptop
2. Wipe the drive and install the OS on it
3. Put it back into the laptop.

That will not work.

In the BIOS on the laptop, do you have USB as first in the boot order?
Do you have a properly constructed USB boot drive? How did you create it?

Yes, used windows7 usb boot tool, the tool i use for all repairs i do, i even tried with another tool i used when i fixed a laptop with xp on since windows 7 usb boot tool only works with windows 7, I can install windows on top of the current windows but then it won't remove the stuff really files will still be infected i want to get in and wipe the whole partition.

The Windows USB/DVD Download Tool Also works with Windows 8, even if it only says Windows 7. I've done it.

If you get it to boot from the USB, you can wipe out the whole drive and install a clean copy. No virus will linger.

Yeah i know but i can't get it to boot from the usb and i don't know why, when i press f9 i can choose usb harddrive, and in bios i have it to first boot from usb harddrive then usb floppy then the main harddrive but it goes past both usb and head for the main harddrive every time no matter what i do. so i can't boot it there, i just have to do it the old way, install it ontop remove the folder with old files and install a real AV program and do a scan, the computer don't have a good AV since it was a school computer before and they use their own AV program so the techs have a job when they need to repair the computer once a week, and hope that will fix it.
