Multiple projectors and monitors?

Hi all,

I've been asked to cost up a computer to run some projectors and a monitor but am having a little trouble deciding on what's best for he graphics card. The set up will essentially be two or three projectors that will usually be showing the same thing - mainly powerpoint slide shows - and then the monitor for the PC to show the operator the next slides, notes, etc. It's not going to be used for gaming - showing a video may be as taxing as it'd get. All projectors and monitor will be HDMI.

Is this kind of setup something best for a single card, something like the nVidia Quadro (P600?) with displayport to hdmi cables, or is it better to get two lower end graphics cards that each have a couple outputs? Any recommendations on cards?

Just as a thought that's struck me while typing this; if the projectors only ever show the same thing then I suppose a single graphics card that has two outputs would suffice, and then just have an hdmi splitter distribute to all the monitors. Has anyone used that to good effect? (Sorry, slightly off the GPU topic that one.)

Also, if they want an additional monitor, I'm assuming that if the motherboard has hdmi/dvi/vga out I could just hook up to that, right?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Andy

Just get a normal lower end video card like a RX 460, even GT 730 is good, then use an HDMI signal distributor to route the signals to the projectors. Get a good quality one, not some cheap model that will have signal issues. Matrox makes equipment for multi monitor setup, but they tend to be pricier than most options, on the other hand for a business with a decent budget you may want to just go with a known quality setup.

Thanks for the response! I took the suggestion of the HDMI splitter to the person wanting the computer but they are insistent on being able to have four independent outputs for "future proofing", so I'm back to looking at something to drive the projectors and monitor as individual screens from the computer.

So with that in mind, and a budget of £1000 for the whole computer, is the Quadro P600 a viable choice? Or would someone recommend something else? Is there any advantage to going with a single graphics card that can do it all as opposed to two independent (and possibly cheaper?) cards?
