Hi, Multiple qustions here, i would like to buy an ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero Alpha ATX Motherboard (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=1206692&gclid=CjwKEAjw_6XIBRCisIGIrJeQ93oSJAA2cNtMShrVixVx0Y1T55khl2Pydnfxly74DT4DgXQeVhEJdBoCPt_w_wcB&Q=&ap=y&m=Y&c3api=1876%2C%7Bcreative%7D%2C%7Bkeyword%7D&is=REG&A=details) and i want to know two things, 1) if the GPU i want to buy, nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1080/) will fit on the motherboard and 2) If the motherboard itself fits in my thermaltake mid tower case. (i've done research and so far it looks like it does, but i just want confirmation.)

Solution
The Z170 MB can't support the i7 6850K, because the 6850K is the lga2011-3, if you want the 6850K you need buy the x99 MB. If you want that Z170, either i7 7700K or 6700K.

The answers are yes for your questions, because as long as the MB has the pcie x16 slot, the GPU will fit. Also the MB is the atx format, the mid tower case should support up to atx format MB ( you don't list what case you have)

But there are two questions you should think about, 1) can gtx1080 fit into your thermaltake mid tower case? Even the GPU is only 10.5" in length, just double check. 2) the MB is the Z170, if you will buy the 7th gen cpu, you will need to update the BIOS first by the USB BIOS Flashback. Otherwise the PC will not boot.

ah ok, i am buying the intel i-6850k and im pretty sure my case is a v41, if it's not they look exactly the same, thanks though, this is really helpful

hmmm, let me see what the g700k is like

So here is what i am looking to buy: MOTHERBOARD: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=1206692&gclid=CjwKEAjw_6XIBRCisIGIrJeQ93oSJAA2cNtMNXLh4xnqrvUKZHMJBC5TB04Ts8HwBv6iNWsaDYdE2xoCHRjw_wcB&is=REG&ap=y&m=Y&c3api=1876%2C%7Bcreative%7D%2C%7Bkeyword%7D&A=details&Q= ____ GPU: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1080/ ____
CPU: https://www.quietpc.com/kabylake-i7 ____ PSU: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438018&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Power+Supplies-_-N82E16817438018&gclid=Cj0KEQjwoqvIBRD6ls6og8qB77YBEiQAcqqHe_oXQDwvCa1xnhoooflsMm-fZR6yswlKtsHh8llYp6AaAoiG8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds ____ And i was wondering if all of that fits in my thermaltake v41 or if i need to buy a new case, and if it is all compatible with each other, Thanks!
