So I have brix i54200 and trying to use it for home server. I want to connect 2+ external ssd. But it has only 1 SSD slot.

I can use it with usb port but I've heard sata port is much better than usb.

Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks.

eSATA or USB 3...the physical drive is the same. So same power consumption.
The only thing that is different is the enclosure interface.

Leaving it on 24/7? Absolutely no problem.

Yes, an eSATA (external SATA) is faster than a USB.
But if you only have one, then you only have one.

But, depending on exactly what you're using this for, it might not make that much of a difference.

First of all thank you for the reply.

I'm trying to use it for htpc and file server (plex, syncthing etc.). I've also have this build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WKzFvV
Which one has low power consumption? Because I'm currently tight on budget...

Yes, that's the one.
Oh I see, so USB 3 is faster than eSATA huh... well that's new to me...

But wouldn't be more efficient with eSATA? I mean I'm gonna leave it like 24/7. So wouldn't be bad for external drives? Already one of my external drives making noises here and there...

Plus I'm also trying to install pihole on it...
