Multiple starts needed and freezing

I have been having 2 problems with my custom desktop lately. 1) freezes while watching videos or playing games. 2) Often when i boot it or wake it up from sleep it will take multiple attempts to get it fully start up.
Parts:
Windows 10
i5 6500
asus z-170E motherboard
gtx 1060 6gb
2x8 DDR4 2400 ram
3TB 3.5" 7200RPM
240GB 2.5" SSD (for OS)
SuperNOVA NEX 650W power supply unit

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

bios is up to date but still having the problems
