Hi,

After having a dell PC (P4 2.83) for more than 6 years. I'm now planning to buy a new PC. Basically, I need a PC that I can use for multi-tasking i.e. watching movies while developing application and converting media files (Sound absurd but I do a lot of things at a time). In addition, I'm also planning to use vmware for client-server development and use SQL server with it. I would probably use the PC for playing games while watching movies. What happen really is I always use my PC while my wife and daughter watch movies. Just FYI, I use multi-view to achieve this (If only I can have 2 sound card for my PC. Is this possible?).

As I have stated, my last PC was bought 6 years ago, I'm also not fond of overclocking (but problably in the future I guess after 5 years). I don't go with new trends so I'm really thinking of buying a "future-proof" (sounds cliché) PC. I have my eye on core i7-940. But a bit confuse with a lot of forums saying that it's not worth the money and should stick to i7-920. I wish I could buy i7-965 but it's not on my budget range. I've read about core i5 but I don't think I can wait for it and not sure if it's worth to wait.

Here is my prospect specs at the moment hope you could help me decide:

Processor: core i7-940
Motherboard: Asus P6T Deluxe V2
CPU Heat Sink: Cooler Master V8
Memory: Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) XMS3 1600MHz CAS 9 (DDR3)
Case: Cooler Master HAF-932 or Cooler Master Cosmos
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 - 896MB
Power Supply: Cooler Master 850W Real Power M Active
HDD: 750 GB SATA-II HDD UDMA 300 7200 32MB
DVD: ASUS (DRW-2014L1T) DVD +/- RW 20x
OS: Windows XP SP2 64-Bit (Is Vista any good?)

Thank you very much.
