Question Mushkin Vortex problem on Asus Maximus XIII Hero ?

I have a brand new build. I installed Mushkin Vortex which is Gen4 that is installed in the PCIe 4.0 slot and has Windows 11 on it. The h: drive is Gen3 Mushkin Tempest that is installed into the PCIe 3.0 slot. The slower drive works just fine. The problem is the Mushkin Vortex can't handle large files. When I copy a large file to the drive it will start transferring and after a few seconds the speed drops and Windows becomes unresponsive. The performance monitor shows there is still writing to the drive at 6mb.

Specs:
Asus Maximus XIII Hero
I9-11900KF
64gb Memory

C: Gen4 x4 - Mushkin Vortex MKNSSDVT2TB-D8 7,415MBs / 6,800MBs R/W
H: Gen3 x4 - Mushkin Tempest MKNSSDTS2TB-D8 3,250MBs / 2,900MBs R/W

Any suggestions on figuring out a fix for this problem?

Here's a daft idea.

Swap the two M.2 drives over, putting the Gen4 (Windows 11) drive in the Gen3 slot and the Gen3 drive in the Gen4 slot. If you can still boot Windows in the Gen3 slot, you could see if the large file problem remains, albeit at a half maximum potential speed.

It might just be a weird incompatbility problem. I gave up trying to get a 1TB M.2 drive to work in my third slot. It just wasn't detected. In the end, I bought a new drive from a different manufacturer. The awkward drive worked fine in another mobo. Neither of the drives were Muskin.

I know you'd like the Gen4 drive to run at full speed, but it would provide you with more information, even if it's not a solution. Check to see if there's a firmware update for the Gen4 drive and is your Mobo BIOS up to date? As a last resort try a completely different Gen4 drive.

That's a good idea. It's still giving me the error problem even on the Gen3 slot. I contacted Mushkin and they are going to send me a new drive.
