Hey All,

Got a question. I am comparing Mushkin PC133 Cas 2 256 meg module with the crucial PC133 Cas 2 256 meg module. Mushkin's price is $188 and crucial's is $111. Why is there such a price difference? Which do you recommend I get?

They are both very high performers. Mushkin's price has always been more expensive. For a better price/performance balance, go with Crucial - it's so much cheaper!

Thanks. I'm getting this same answer pretty much across the board. Some people have a brand they prefer and all that but in the end it's the same memory so therefore I conclude that the price difference comes from other factors like size of the company.

I was only concerned that perhaps the crucial memory was lacking in something major and that's why it was so much cheaper but now I know. I'd planned to get crucial anyway but then I wanted to get some of the PC150 which Mushkin sells but they only sell that in 128 meg sticks. Not good enough for me. I wanted 512 meg sticks but will settle for 256 meg sticks.

Crucial is a major market producer and Mushkin is a specialty producer. They probably pay a lot more overhead in production, but to little avail. It would not suprise me that their PC133 is the leftover parts that did not pass the test for PC150.
