By posting any song on YouTube that is not your own you are infringing on the rights of the copyright owner. In some cases copyright holders will allow there songs to be posted along with videos (for example if they like the video and think it's a good way of promoting the song). But many musicians (myself included) do not want their songs posted for free anywhere because it potentially cuts into sales of that work.
Despite what many people (especially younger generations) believe, recording high-quality music is a very expensive proposition on many levels.
