Hi! This is my first post on here, and I'd like to thank everyone who takes the time to review and give advice on stuff like this. I'm going to be building a PC in the next few months strictly for music production (maybe some StarCraft here and there), so I need the absolute minimum lag/latency (not sure what the proper term is here); I'll be using PreSonus's Studio One Professional DAW; also, I'm considering buying (in the semi-distant future) SSL's MadiXtreme 64 PCIe card, so that is something to keep in mind. I want this to be a future proof setup to last me a very long time and tried to do as much research as I could fathom to reach this Newegg wish list:

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V

CPU: Intel i7-3770K
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116501

RAM: G.SKILL RipjawsX 16GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231568

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148834

Disc Drive: ASUS DRW-24B1ST
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204

PSU: Sea Sonic M12II Bronze 620W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151095

Case: Fractal Design Arc XL Full Tower
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352035

Monitor: ASUS VG248QE 24"
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313

I'm mostly wondering about compatibility issues, will all of this be able to work together? I'm not sure if there's any overkill, but I would certainly rather have too much than too little. I won't be overclocking or anything like that, and plan on running Windows 8 64-bit. Is this everything I need to be up and running? My budget is ballpark of what these items come to, however I'm willing to extend it slightly if need be. I really appreciate any comments/suggestions etc.

Thanks!
Chris

Solution

Encoding is incredibly CPU intensive, so I'd at least pick up something,
A Hyper 212 EVO should do fine for rather cheap.

It'll all work together, but I'd be a proponent for switching out the 3770K for a 4770K.
Considering the fact that your purpose is Audio Creation, the 4770K would make a huge different in editing and encoding time. You would have to swap out motherboards though, considering it's an LGA1150 rather than an LGA1155

Gotcha, so I'll go for an ASRock Z87 Extreme4. Anything else I can do for speed considerations?
