News Musk's concerns over Google DeepMind 'AI Dictatorship' revealed in emails from 2016 — communications released during the recent OpenAI court case

Like him or not the guy is no fool. He also seems to have clear intentions about doing things to benefit humanity that his love of trolling don't cancel out.

Then his actions around AI, not wanting Google to be 1st, his time with OpenAI & reasons for leaving, his views on how AI needs to be open & actions since all point in 1 direction. The words richest man isn't just out to be even more richest, especially regarding something that is as important as AGI.

So.. putting bias's aside from time and working together on something like this is the path. Who cares what his views are on XYZ when they don't even color views on ABC? I know I don't. I care about the stated mission, how to get from A-B, and how we can do that together which might just be a step towards regaining people's ability to work together despite differences.

How are we supposed to end wars or progress as people if we can't even put aside differences in like 5 things that quite frankly aren't important in the grand scheme of existence especially over time? Society can't debate everything and slowly evolve, sometimes we need to just bite the bullet & decide to march forward. We can revisit and amend later but the foundation needs to be laid now.

AI & what we decide about it early will be around in 20, 100, 1000 years but my views on taxes, gender, media, social media or whatever else will ALL be outmoded in 20 years regardless of what those views are TODAY. Enough division...

His concerns weren't about AI, they were about Google dominating the AI market. He wasn't being altruistic, he was concerned about his bank account.

Google is genuinely creepy. Musk only just so happens to be making a completely accurate statement that, absent Musk, is still accurate about Google's creep factor. When it comes to our data, Google looks at our data like:

His comments very early on kind of infer he was not thinking of himself . That was at a time when the rest of us were entirely oblivious to what A.i was shaping into so I'm frankly glad there were people with some level with ethics to intervene so that there's not just one player in a market who traditionally doesn't have the best of intentions

Oh great, another Musk apologist. „Enough division, we need to make the world a better place“. Who is sewing division? Musk with his aggressive rhetoric about trans people, the political left and other minorities, who currently censors the word „cisgender“ on his own platform yet doesn’t interfere with the worst antisemitic and racist posts coming from people supporting him? Or people calling out his dishonesty and hypocrisy regarding AI? His own companies were behind others like OpenAI and Google, so he called their systems into question so he could have time to get to their level (and make sure people like you would think about his own systems as safe).
 
Musk looks after number one, he doesn't want Google to dominate AI, because he wants to.

Don't forget, he's got a trip to Mars to pay for...
