Mw2 multiplayer help

I have downloaded mw2 and it let's me play all the campaign but wen I click multiplayer it closes and opens steam, and hints at me buying it instead, can I get round this? Thanks

You won't get any help with piracy. Buy the game, like it suggests, and the problem will disappear.
