Hello,

I have bought plenty of Crucial mSATA drives in the past for our fleet (11 and counting) of Latitude E6440s and never had a problem. Every machine I have has a 256GB M550, and since M550s are no longer sold, I want to try out MX200s for the "new" E6440s. The most recent one I picked up brand new from Newegg gives this upon first booting the laptop:

From what I can tell with Google, these drives do not typically come with a password already set. Anyway, it is the same in any E6440 I tried, even with an external USB/mSATA adapter on an Precision T5810, the drive cannot be seen in the OS or even in the BIOS. The only prompt I get is the one above on boot.

I have tried:
admin
ADMIN
Admin
crucial
CRUCIAL
Crucial
mx200
MX200
Serial Number
etc. nothing seems to take,

I also tried to flash MU03 to the drive, as it shipped with MU02, but because the drive is locked, the BIOS does not pass it along to the firmware update utility:

Is this a case of ID10-T on my part (I did not see a password in the packaging), or malice on Newegg's part, shipping another customer's return?

Does anyone have any suggestions beyond attempting a return?

Return it. Was it an open box purchase or something? It obviously shouldn't have a password set.
