i have a mx 600 cordless mouse and my os is w10. at the bottom left of the screen you can click on a up arrow where you can open up your hidden icons. But when i click on it, my mouse wont or can't open or reveal the hidden icons. Same goes when i want to click on a drop down menu. also, when i write something and i click on a word my mouse highlights the whole word. Usual you would have to double click it in order to do that. When i click on back button on my mouse, instead of going back once,it seems like it one click equals to several clicks. What is causing this issue?
also when i want to close a tab on my browser, i have to click on it a couple of times before it does.
i've replaced the batteries, the driver is up to date 5.90.41.

Any ideas why my mouse is acting a little wacky?

Please any help would be great. Its driving me crazy.

With a mouse that old pretty good chance that something has reached or passed the engineered in "EOL" (End of Life).

Could be the USB Receiver as well but the problem seems to be more mechanical related.

Yes, try mouse and receiver elsewhere and see if they work. If not, then the mouse and/or receiver is probably failing.

If you are so inclined and time permits, take apart only as a last resort and see what you can find. Good chance that the mouse will self-destruct in the process. Not made for cleaning or repairing per se. Taking things apart can still be fun and instructive but only to a point......

How old is the mouse? Has it been heavily used?

Could be the back button is sticking or some other internal failure.

Have you tried the USB receiver in another USB port?

Any known software updates or other system changes?

Check the mouse manual for any "cleaning" that may be viable.

Try the mouse on another system to see if the problem follows the mouse.

If the problem does not follow the mouse, try another driver reinstall.

The mouse is several yrs old.
As for cleaning not sure where to clean it. I guess I can try to take it apart.
It doesn't use a USB port but has a hub for the wireless connection.

I'll try it on another and or at least reinstall the driver
