Question My 1st PC Build Close to the Finish Line - Help Request

Looking for any advice/criticism for the below build. The build is intended to run photoshop and Lightroom classic for photo editing. I intentionally tried to have the build be a little overkill in the hopes it lasts with some small updates over time. One question i have is should i include a cabinet cooler? The cabinet has 3 fans, the gpu has fans, and i added a cpu cooling system so i wasn't sure if I needed more. Any advice about any aspect of the build would be greatly appreciated.

You have a CPU cooler, 3 "cabinet" fans, and a gpu fan.

What is a "cabinet cooler" if not one of those things?

Is it simply another case fan, making a total of 4?

My understanding is that it would be another fan housed within the cabinet, or a liquid cooling system. Cabinet cooler is the wording used by the system builder I used to ensure parts were compatible. Any thoughts on the build or whether or not you would add additional cooling?

"another fan" or "liquid cooling" is a critical distinction. Which is it?

At any rate, I don't think I would add a "cabinet cooler", whatever it is.

You already have chosen a pretty good air cooler. Your case is well regarded and includes 3 case fans.

Your GPU is a mid level unit.

I'd think the cooling should be adequate as is. Re-evaluate after you've used it for a week or month and possibly change cooling at that time.

Thank you for the response. My apologies if my original request was misleading. Regardless, I ultimately got the answer I was looking for. Thanks again.

You might temporarily poke that "cabinet cooler" option and see what fabulous choices are offered. Likely not worthwhile, but you could add it to a tentative configuration and post a link so we can examine it.....whatever is behind the curtain.

I would consider the i7 12700 / 12700F if you're using Adobe.

For some silly reason I thought you would be able to see a category I didn't select.

Thank you for the response! Would you skip a video card because the i7 12700 / 12700F has an integrated graphics card? If at some point you have a need for a graphics card could you still use this CPU and add a GPU? Just want to make sure I understand what I am doing before I buy everything.

The 12700 comes with integrated graphics and the 12700F is the same cpu but without integrated graphics. The RTX 4070 12GB and RTX 4060 are due for release this April so you can go with the 12700 until then and if you like the reviews of either of those cards you can grab one later on. A 750w psu will more than suffice for the 4070 and 650w psu for the 4060.

Yes, you can add a graphics card at any time later.

You might be surprised at how well the integrated graphics on the CPU works.

The F series does NOT have integrated graphics. You would need the 12700 or the 12700K.

Unless budget prevents it, consider 13th generation parts rather than 12th. You'd get 5 to 10 percent more performance for the added expense.

I am actually under budget after cutting the graphics card. Below is what I think I will go with (possibly add another 2TB of storage, but i want to try keeping my projects on external SSD first). I changed to 13th gen, upped to DDR5, and selected a motherboard that accomodates those changes. Also added a DVD/CD drive just for convenience with installing software if it is needed at some point. Appreciate all of your help. If you don't mind taking a look at what I think is the final product I would greatly appreciate it.

Does that case have a bay into which you could place a DVD drive?

DVD drives are less often used for software installation than they were 10 or 15 years ago (in favor of downloads), but maybe you have some other use for a DVD drive?

Did you choose 13700k rather than 13700 for a specific reason?

Did you refuse Windows 11 for a specific reason?

If I went with a locked CPU it comes with a cooler. Should i drop the cpu cooler I added for the 13700K unlocked version?

Never use the cooler that comes with the cpu. Stick with that cooler you have listed.

Then I think we are good to go. Same as before, two SSD's (I decided to have one for my workflow), and a locked cpu. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YWmNC6.

On the off chance you are also a savant with monitors I am leaning torward the below monitor for a quality color display at a moderate price. Photos are a hobby for me so I can't really justify spending 2k on a monitor.
