My 2080 Geforce RTX logo went from green to red, what does that mean

It's not overheating. I unplugged the card just to make sure I reset everything.

I was just chatting with support and they said they passed this on the "concern" team and someone will be in touch. So, any feedback would be appreciated.

I did a bit of research, here's what I found. A few others are having the same issue with the 2080.


"I know Gamers' Nexus recently discovered that there's an RGB controller onboard and that the logo LED's were capable of RGB but there was still no known way to change any of it. That's interesting that yours turned red. Unless it's some sort of error code/signal, is it possible that you have some sort of other RGB controlling software running that could have detected the RGB device on the card and interacted with it? Does changing the LED settings (like breathing effect, etc) have any effect on the color? "

Thanks for the reply. I do not have ANY color changing software.

Other than that, are you noticing anything suspicious about the card like throttling/overheating/unnecessary fan speeds?

No, it's not overheating at all, there seems to be nothing wrong i'm just hoping it's not an error code for power or something else..

Well if nothing is appearing to be wrong at the moment, keep an eye on the card just in case. Hopefully Nvidia addresses this since you aren't alone...

Nvidia asked me to return the card for a swap.

Yea the OP's card has turned to dark side, because luke skywalker told him to swap the vader's red light saber to yoda's green light saber,

why the support guy asked for swap, why not telling "use nvidia LED visualizer?"
