Hello everybody,

I am currently having issues using 240hz on my monitor. This problem started when I sold my GTX 1070 and bought a Zotac GTX 1080 Mini. When I installed the card I had tons of trouble even getting a display to show and now a few days after buying it I FINALLY got a picture on the screen. But now im running into more problems... So now I am having the issue of my card or monitor not letting me use 240hz. It worked perfectly fine with my 1070 but as soon as I plug my 1080 in it doesn't want to work.

Things I have tried that did not work
*Unplugging monitors cables as well as the ports (every way)
*Updating all my graphics card drivers
*DDU then updating card
*Tried creating a custom resolution with 240hz.

I am at a lost..... Im begging like begging for help at this point. Its been hours of trying to fix this for days. Do you I need a new monitor? Do I need a new display port wire? Do I need to return my graphics card?

p.s. I game at 1920 x 1080 @ 240hz

I would try to see if there's settings in the menu of the monitor itself for "overdrive". Most monitors are not native 240Hz.
Try another displayport cable, make sure the port on the monitor is running at version 1.3 or higher
In the 3D settings area of the nVidia Control Panel, go to the line that says something like monitor refresh rate or something like that. Make sure it's at 'Max Refresh rate of my monitor" or something like that.

EDIT: The setting is "Preferred Refresh Rate", choose "Highest Available"

So my monitor settings say nothing about boosting or anything. I did the 3d highest available and that didnt fix it sadly.

I am getting the option for 240hz on both my Control Panel and Display settings but when I click it and apply both the screen goes black for about 20 seconds... and comes back to 120hz. Im so lost..........
