My 280 watt power supply capable of what graphics card?

Hey, i would like to know whether my PSU is capable of supplying enough power to a GPU which would be used to play guild wars 2.

i am thinking of the 6670...

The max you can get is probably a 7750. Anything more and you'd have to change the PSU.

I would second the 7750 idea. It pulls just under 50 watts under the most demanding circumstances and about 40 watts in most games.

You only have 192 watts on your 12 volt rail so anything more is a bad idea.

The 6670 takes just a hair more power and is slower.

What else is in the system?

I'd second a new PSU. Seriously, do you trust that firecracker to run your precious system? If it goes it will likely take out the whole PC. Get Corsair's CX600, assuming that is even removable.

Dell's PSUs are made by FSP or Delta, both of which make reputable PSUs.

the thing is the CPU im pretty sure uses ~150w power and GPU is usually takes up 100-300+ i'd say get a better power supply maybe a 400-500watt. I'm guessing your on a budget but 6670 wont play guild wars 2 very good

Your not gonna get alot with that PSU. A system with no GPU will take around 150w by itself (About 40-50w idle). So your really not left with alot of power to play around with seeing as the average graphics card takes about 200+ watts to power it, your really going ot have to go low on the GPU. The lowest GPU I could find (Nvidia) was a GTX 210 leaving your system with 20w. But thats not gonna get you anyway near being able to play Guild Wars 2.

Buy a new PSU (You can get a small 400w-500w PSU from PCCASEGEAR from around $40-$50)

Once you've upgraded your PSU to one of these, you'll have no problems with power problems. The only problem afte rthat is your budget + your other components (CPU & RAM)

It looks like a custom not quite ATX sized power supply.

Only the highest end cpus ever touch 150 watts. For instance most Core2 Duo chips had been rated at 65 watts. While a 2600K is rated at 95 watts a 1366 I7 920 was rated at 130. Both draw less then this unless pushes VERY hard.

A 7770 will not push past 50 watts. Long shot from the 100-300 estimate.

I do give you full(any users recommending a power supply[far safer, but may be hard with the OP's system]) credit. It will depend on what else is in the system.

I would just get the Radeon HD 7750 since it uses a few less watts than the Radeon HD 6670 at peak power.
