My 2TB Hard Drive Won’t Spin!

My media center with 2 terrabyts of starage (1.5tb of movies) failed. It would not boot or load. I took out the hdd and put it in my desktop to see if i could fix it, but it didn’t spin at all. I quickly startet to sniff it if something was fried or shorted, but it smelled just normal. Do anyone have any idea what could be wrong??

Probably dead drive. Does it get detected in BIOS or Disk Management?
If no - then get a new one.

Sounds like the drive is done. I've had a few drives do the same thing.

Sometimes you can gently tap the drive against a hard surface and it will spin again for a short while. IF that works, get your data off before it locks up again.

I've also had twin drives where one went bad. I swapped out the electronic board and got the bad one work long enough to get my data off.

Only other solution is send it to a data recovery business, but those aren't cheap.

Not showing up in bios, diskpart or management...guess i have to but a new one :/
