How did you have money to upgrade from 3.0E prescott you recently bought to a 3.2E?

And why? Why waste money for only 200mhz?

i decided better to spend $339 on new cpu , than to get another gig of pc3200 low CAS performance name brand ram. I already have cheap generic PC3200 which costed $231. imagine getting Corsair, Kingston, or OCZ. probably be around the range of a 3.2E. I just wanted to break 60k aquamarks @ stock speed. that was all.

the zalman cooler weighs 740grams!! all-copper but the 92mm fan is nice and quiet. i'm gettin the same temps as my 3.0e on intel stock cooler.
but it is much quieter at 25dB @ 2500rpm. the intel was 5400rpm and 41dB.

thx, need to change my sig.

it's soo easy to install on a P4 bracket, that intel should include this in retail stock! i thought i had to water cool. or get one of those crazy tower heatpipes, lol. but the zalman is awesome, i strongly recommend this hsf to everyone. it's pricey but well worth it. Now i can play farcry and hear all the sound effects.

yea .. it was fairly easy to install on my motherboard, even tho it wasnt fully compatible. my NF7-S has a cap really close to the cpu socket, so i had to saw off a piece of the mounting bracket lol.. i run the fan at about 1600rpm, cant even hear the thing and my temps only go over 50 when its really hot outside, 30C (my room gets over 35C im sure, its like a sauna with my case+19" monitor which puts out 120watts of heat alone)

What happened to your old CPU?

Sorry to say but that was almost the worst upgrade i've seen.
You say this like you needed a upgrade. Why don't you spend money on something better.
Like Beer.
Or maybe a hoe, because it seems like you really need to get out of the house.

Going from 3.0E to 3.2E is not really a worthy upgrade... Unless you benchmark, you'll never even notice the difference.

I'm currently running on a 933Mhz P3... Just imagine what'll happen once I switch to a 3+Ghz (or equivalently-rated) processor... I'll feel the difference instantaneously...

Yeah, I read the manual , and it said that there should be a capacitor higher than 3.9cm within 5.5cm of the center of cpu. Intel's standard for hsf space on mobos is 10cm. so i'm safe.

What happened to your old CPU?
its in my new P4 box. btw, the intel stock hsf for the 3.2e is different than the 3.0e. its' has circular fins as oppose to the square style design.

Ya, I went from an xp2400+ to an xp2500+, then to an xp-m 2500+. Ok, each represented a 200 mhz gain in clock, but the big gain was to my kid's computers. They went from a 1600+ and a 1700+ palominos to the 2400+ and the 2500+.
