Question My 5.1 Surround rear speakers doesn't work properly

I've purchased the Logitech Z906 and I recently installed them, but what I've noticed is that my rear speakers doesn't have any audio when I play music or a movie, but only if I change the effect to 3D stereo.

My PC can detect that it is a 5.1 surround system, and I can configure them as surround, and my only problem is the rear speakers. Front, center and subwoofer works fine. But, when I play a game, I could hear the rear speakers without the effects. So I only get the True surround sound when I play a game.

I've tried:
Downloading new/different Realtek drivers
Enabled the #try-supported-channel-layouts in Chrome
Changed audio settings on VLC
Changed the jacks

One thing I've noticed on my PCs back panel is the color of the rear jack ports. I'm using the green, pink and black jack cable and on my motherboard, is only green, pink and blue. It does have two ports on the front.

My Computer: Acer Nitro 50-600

PC works in PCM format

playing audio is stereo, playing movies needs either dtx or dolby decoders for 5+1 or more (not PCM) otherwise its just stereo
some soundcards supports fake surround (5+ channel stereo)
Games support 5.1+ PCM

So i should look up in your sound card settings for fake surround, if its not there or doesnt work like u want, then ull need different soundcard
asus or soundblaster having prety nice support for this

how do I show you then? Should take a screenshot or something?

movies are encoded with DTS or DOLBY surround sound formats
your soundcard obviously doesnt have it (its licensed)
so it plays in directX (PCM)

u can try VLC player to play audio/video in 5.1 PCM
https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.cs.html
open tools -> configure
in left bottom corner click on show settings -> all
than click audio -> output modules -> directX
output device set to your speakers (realtek)
speaker configuration set to 5.1

This should work for videos, if u struggle with audio files, then upmixing option is not enabled in your sound card driver settings. These settings are vendor and model specific, so if you don't find it on your own, contact your sound card vendor's support.

foobar audio player can upmix from stereo
library -> configure -> playback -> DSP Manager -> click on upmix to 5.1 -> apply/ok

Thank you very much for the help, but I've already set directX settings for VLC player, but unfortunately the rear speakers still have no sound without the 3D Stereo for some reason.

Okay, so can I use an external sound card? If my soundcard doesn't support Dolby or DTS, I should just buy another one that supports it?

okay so i also have same speakers but i have
Creative Sound Blaster Zxr sound card even if you have onboard 5.1 Ch audio it will work

playing songs no matter media player or youtube it will work at 2.1 only unless you have surround option in your sound settings means realtec audio configurator or speaker fill option

playing 5.1 movies even if its DTS or AC3 it will work as 5.1 i use mediaplayer classic and you have to just change its speaker settings to 5.1 then it will work on 5.1 if the movies is 5.1
you dont have to do anything else

So what kind of sound card do you use?

Keep in mind my PC is very limited, i can’t even upgrade my soundcard because it’s attached to the motherboard. If you look at the Acer Nitro N50-600 back panel, there isn’t much i can do except buying an external soundcard. Or am i just an idiot who can’t figure it out? xD
