Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum and the whole overclocking thing in general. I had been searching on google for how to overclock my processor (AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+), and I came across this guy with the same processor;

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/242237-29-post-5200-overclock

Apparently, he's overclocked his core to over 3.1 ghz...

Meanwhile, here's my exact same specs:

Yeah, I'm running at a WHOPPING 1.0 ghz.

What I want to know is:

1) If I'm doing something wrong

and

2) How to overclock, or at least make it faster.

Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

HawkeyeEG

AMD cool'n'quiet technology mate,

Go into BIOS and make sure you disable it, u can also do it in control panel by going to power options and changing your power to "always on" or another simular setting.

Thanks Rizzywho, I switched power settings and now it's running at a constant clock.

I don't understand why they even have a friggin gaming rig default to energy conservation mode... wtf...

Because there's no use in processing at a frequency of 3Ghz when all the computer is doing is nothing, even for a gaming rig... It doesn't dip down into 1Ghz range while you're playing a game, just while the computer isn't doing jack$h!t. It might take an extra second to start a program, but once you start the program you're at top speed as long as the computer is doing something. It just saves alot of electricity/money. It will still be overclocked though when it comes out of conservation mode.
