My 800mhz ram will not go above 400mhz!

So, no matter what I do, I can't get a reading of 800mhz on this ram.

my setup is:

Wolfdale 3500 3.16ghz dual core OC to 3.8ghz (9.5X400mhz) 1600FSB
Kingston 2x1gb DDR2 6400 800Mhz Ram
PNY 8800GT
AsusTek P5KPL-CM (overclocker's budget-board)
(you can set the clocks to 667, 800, 1000, or 1100 on your ram)

When I'm reading cpu-z readouts it does say FSBRAM = 1:1, I built my computer but I'm not so educated on clocks, ratios, and such.

Any help would be appreciated, I've treid going into the bois and changing the clock speed to 800 but it always just reads back at 400. I may just go out and buy 4gb's of some Crosiar 1066 Ram, but i want to make sure i can fix this problem so i don't end up running my new memory at 400 as well! (Also i'd like to know what i should set it to when i get it, 1000 or 1100?)

How do you know your Ram is running at 400Mhz? Did you pull up CPU-Z and make sure?

Cpu-z, Pc Wizard, and Everest all say its running at 400. Also, i went into bios and manually selected 800mhz AGAIN and now cpuz is saying my DRAM Frequency is 480, and im 5:6 ratio. And says "Max bandwidth : 400mhz"

just make it even by setting times to 2-2-2-6 ;P

but really, try reseating the memory and possibly switching around modules. try one module at a time to make sure that one of them isn't defective or improperly labeled.

if these don't work then try resetting CMOS before contacting your memory and motherboard manufacturers.

Multiply that 400 by 2 and you have 800. Core clock for DDR2 800 is 400, and that's likely what your bios is displaying. Setting your ram speed to 800 would effectively clock it to 1600, which just won't work.

My core dram clock is 420.6, which makes the effective ram speed 841.2. You're fine.

Your RAM IS running at 800MHz if your CPU is set at 9.5x400 and CPU-Z says you're at a 1:1 FSB/DRAM ratio. This is completely normal. My CPU is running at 8x400. I have my RAM at a 1:1 ratio and it is running at 800MHz.

If your DRAM frequency is at 480 then that means that your ram is actually running at 960Mhz. You should be more than happy at the moment =)

Example :

444.5 x 2 = 889Mhz DDR2
