Hi
It depends on what you mean by failed
What error messages are you getting ?
If drive can not be seen in BIOS then the circuit board has failed or the drive has come free of sata connector
Then repair by expert or professional data recovery company is very expensive
(unless re inserting in socket works)
If seen in BIOS & Disk Management there is hope
You need a Manufacturers bootable diagnostic disk to test hard drive
(unless available in BIOS like some Dells)
(Hirens CD has a collection of hard disk diagnostics or go to seagate or western digital web site)
boot from CD and run diagnostics. quick then full to see if minor problem or major problem
report what hard disk diagnostics say
