My acer extensa 4230-2818 won\'t hold a charge. I can only operate when plugged into the outlet. I would hate to purchase a new battery ($40) if it's may be something else. Please advise. Thank you.

if its not your battery its your mother board, which has your power supply soldered on. but more than likely you just need a new battery.

I own a laptop repair company..and agree with tripledouce...new battery time....a lappy battery usually lasts 1 to 3 years max...

Yep i have the same problem with my Acer Extensa 4230.
Shud be always kept plugged in.
Anyway, i've been using it for 5yrs now.
Doesnt matter so, just pllug and play. Treat it as a desktop pc
