my acer notebook will not hook up to the internet

My Acer notebook will not hook up to the internet it keeps saying it is an attachment problem could this be the cable?

If you are using a wired connection to the modem or router, it could be the ethernet cable that needs replacing so try a new one.
If that doesn't help, turn off your router or modem and restart it.
Also restart your laptop.
