Sooo my AMD 4100 FX Quad Core 3.6Ghz got overclocked to a 4.0Ghz no problem 20-30 Degrees (Enermax air cooling) Thought that i could get it a bit further so overclocked it to a 4.5Ghz was really happy with my result, The next day I was experiencing frequent crashes but then stopped the day after that. I was getting 30-55 temperature and i wanted to overclock some MOAR... I put it to a 5.0Ghz As soon as windows begun to boot up *Blue Screen Of Death* 😵 It sorta made me think I was getting greedy so but it back to the 4.0. I tried putting more volts into the CPU (Not really knowing what i was doing so I didn't really want to mess anything up.) Didn't help so i wasnt going to put any more volts into it. My power supply is decent: 700W and it's not exactly being using all of its 700W. Any ideas i would be thrilled to hear!

Thank you

Roight! First order of business, feel free to list out your complete rig. Complete with brand name and models. This will give us a clear idea of what we're dealing with here. Although we have an idea of what the issue is, it's nice to be sure.
(I am assuming that you have some variant of the Enermax ETS-T40?)

Here is a pretty good basic walk-through to overclocking, although I recommend just sticking to multiplier-overclocking alone.

4.5ghz might be your max, but pushing to 4.8 ghz is quite the possibility, as long as you do is safely.

I went a bit risky and put moar voltz into my processor which resulted my computer not starting *facepalm* so i reset the bios put it to 4.2Ghz and i dont think i can run 5.0Ghz so i'll try the 4.8Ghz (without damaging anything) and i'll see what happens that for the support guys!

Try 4.3 ghz. If that works, then 4.4ghz, if that works, then 4.5 ghz. Works, of course, means running stability tests.

Thanks everyone, I tried the 4.5Ghz and put the OC up 4.6Ghz, 4.7Ghz, 4.8Ghz etc. I think that i can run 4.6Ghz, 4.7Ghz, 4.8Ghz and 4.9Ghz but its very unstable and i get frequent crashes. I checked out the video "Calculatron" somewhat helpful :) Anyway, I'm running smoothly on 4.5Ghz and i will leave it as that, i'm happy as it is. Thanks everyone,
