Hi,

I recently built a new pc (part list down below) and i have this problem with my (or i think it is) amd fx 8320 where if i am multi tasking with 2 or more programs or playing minecraft and any game the pc will either freeze or restart. I reduced the cpu from a stock 3.5ghz to 3 ghz and the problem continued. I have a cooler master hyper 103 to cool it. The weird thing is the cpu never gets above 50 degrees before it freezes or restarts. Thanks in advance for the help (here is the build list)

CPU: AMD FX 8320

GPU: GIGABYTE NVIDIA GTX 950 WF OC 2 GB ddr5

HDD: 1TB western digital 7200 rpm

PSU: EVGA 500w 80 plus gold

MOBO: Gigabyte SKT-AM3 78LMT-USB3

RAM: 8gb hyperX fury ddr3 1866Mhz

Yes the whole system freezes and i have to manually power down with the button. I checked the eventvwr and there was no recorded problem!

If there's no recorded problem then that usually means it's a hardware problem and/or something Windows cannot track. I think some stress testing is in order here. I would download a program or two that will stress test your RAM and processor. If you research the utility Hiren's Boot CD, they have a few stress testing tools on there.

So this is real simple. You run a stress test for RAM and CPU. Whichever one fails (or produces the same error) is the culprit.

Okay so i found a program called prime95 ran the stress test option for 1 hour results came back with no problems. Its really confusing as there is obviously no problem with the cpu but what keeps causing the restarts and the freezing?
