its quite funny how seriously how much of a newb i am when it comes to overclocking so like an idiot i overclocked. i have a amd phenom x4 965 b.e with a heatsink that is arctic cooling freezer 13 pro and i decided to overclock for the first time as i did a good job for a beginner meaning that i brought it up to 3.7ghz with multipliers and no vcore increases which is at 1.4 default. my temps were 29-33 degrees celcius. the next day i turn on my pc and like an idiot decide that i would like more .... i raised it up to 3.9ghz forgeting to raise the vcore and pressed reset -_-. then i get a lot of beeping sounds(panicking) with a black screen. so i unplug everything pressing the cmos reset button and take off my heatsink and apply new thermal paste(arctic silver 5) on my cpu i did a normal job not professional but enough not to drop paste inside the cpu.tried to turn it back on which sucessfully worked. THOUGH! the problem was when i turned it back on my temperatures according to amd overdrive were 45-49degree celcius and when everything was set back to default(3.4ghz). i would do my stress test with prime95 well it would higher that 80 we should say. now how did this happen?

AMD phenom x4 965 b.e
arctic cooling freezer 13 pro
gigabyte GA-990xa-ud3 motherboard
gigabyte amd radeon 6950 1gb
8gb g.skill ram
