My RADEON HD7800 software keeps recommending I upgrade the card to an RADEON RX 5700 XT.

My 7800 is PCIe 1.0 and the RX 5700 is apparently PCIe 4.0 compliant.

Can this card even fit on my old motherboard???

Wow, an ad slipped inside software. That's not unusual...
That reminds me - the recent Samsung Magician update included a bloody 980 Pro ad in the bottom left corner of the app's window... /sigh

Fit? Sure.
Actually recognizing the card? Probably not, if your mobo isn't even PCIe Gen 2.
Even if it did recognize it, the Gen 1 speeds are going to hurt performance.

LOL. Thanks. I didn't think so but then ... the persistence of the recommendation made me doubt myself. It's not an ad. It's an actual Advisor recommendation. I'd post a screenie but it doesn't appear I can do this here.

I appreciate the confirmation.
