so i am mining a coin called ZERO but i only have around 12 mh/s sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. but it should be 30 mh/s?
yes i recently installed windows 10 and there are no programs running in the background except msi afterburner when mining. also my friend uses a R9 390 and he mines almost 2x more then me every 24 hour? we both have not overclocked our cards.

is my GPU just not good for mining this coin, and what coin do you guys recommend i should mine? (for the most profit) thanks for your help.

The 30 MH/s you're expecting from an RX 580 is for ethash based coins. The coin you're mining uses a different algorithm, so you'll have a very different hashrate. Expected hashrate for equihash is just under 300 H/s with an RX 580.

Regarding which coins are most profitable to mine:

In the global section of the AMD software panel change the primary function of your card to compute (instead of gaming) for one thing. A bad OC is an awful thing for mining.

I don't understand the rates you are reporting at all.... doesn't zero use equihash?

Anyhow, normally when we use cards for mining we modify the memory straps in order to get the best possible output.

Edit, there some information in the massive thread on bitcointalk, I'd read it or search for more data there.

yes zero is a fork of zcash, but is there any coin thats more profitable with my card? thanks for your response

thank you so much know i can find a coin that has the right algorithm, thank you for learning me this!

FYI, there's nothing 'wrong' with any particular algorithm. One algorithm having a different (i.e. lower) hashrate than another doesn't make it better or worse, nor does it necessarily make it more or less profitable. It's just different.

For example, with an RX 580 you could mine Decred at ~1400 MH/s (Blake 14r algorithm), but it's less profitable (based on current prices and mining difficulty) than mining Eth at ~30 MH/s (Ethash algorithm). Comparing the different hashrates for different algorithms is comparing apples to oranges.

hey thanks for response i cannot find a "primary function" tab or something on the AMD driver panel

AMD Radeon settings, Gaming, global settings, Global Graphics RX 580, the pulldown is called GPU workload.

Questions are great, but a little reading and Google won't kill you if you actually hope to do this well.

Good luck. No longer tracking.
