Assume you connected the VGA cable into the GTX 1050 and not the MB VGA connector. You'll likely need to use the DVI --> VGA dongle that likely came with your video card. So you end up plugging the dongle into the video card, then the VGA cable into the dongle.

For best picture connect the gtx 1050 to the ASUS monitor with a digital signal if the monitor has a digital input - HDMI, etc. anything but VGA. Your text will be much crisper.)
